GO GREEN: A CAMPAIGN ON SINGLE-USE PLASTIC

NCCC Supermarket promotes sustainable and environment-friendly grocery shopping to its customers in hopes to lessen the contribution of wastes that cause negative effects on our planet. Thus, the retail company has started to implement its advocacy through its Go Green campaign which encourages shoppers to limit the use of single-use plastics in doing their groceries as a  way to begin their zero waste habits.

It was launched in December 2018 with the opening of the Green Lane Counter which is now open across 28 branches. The Green Lane Counter is a special counter for shoppers who opt to have their items packed with eco-friendly and re-useable bags. They can either purchase it at the counter or bring one along with them.

This campaign has also inspired other business units in NCCC such as Helen's Farm which started their Go Green campaign just recently by converting their packaging materials to non-plastics. Examples of these are the conversion of plastic egg trays to cartons and the use of banana leaves in packing fruits and vegetables inside the supermarket area. Helen's Farm still has so much more prepared to further promote non-single-use-plastic campaign and their natural planting technique.

Aside from the eco-friendly initiatives done by NCCC Supermarket, NCCC Cares, a Non-Government Office, also implements activities and projects that protect planet earth such as the recent Love Affair with Nature wherein NCCC Cares college scholars performed a mangrove-tree planting at Brgy. Bunawan , Davao City. Moreover, they also have a program called Buy Back Fair School Tour wherein the team goes to selected secondary public schools in Davao City to collect their recyclable scrap materials in exchange of cash.
