NCCC signs deed of donation; UA&P to start in Davao

Davao City-based conglomerate New City Commercial Corporation (NCCC), led by its president Ms. Sharlene Faye A. Lim, inked on September 23 the deed of donation bestowing to the University of Asia and the Pacific (UA&P) 5,148 sqm. of land in Panacan, Davao City.

“As NCCC is committed to retail excellence, care for the community, and service from the heart, our partnership with UA&P will help us fulfill the vision of my grandfather Lim Tian Su, and my father Henry Lim, to improve the lives of people in the areas we operate,” Ms. Lim said.

Other signatories include NCCC Chairman of the Board Mrs. Helen A. Lim, UA&P President Dr. Winston Conrad B. Padojinog, and UA&P Chairman of the Board Amb. Jose L. Cuisia, Jr.

“We are not establishing ‘UA&P Mindanao,’” Dr. Padojinog told members and friends of NCCC and UA&P present that afternoon at Marco Polo Hotel in Davao City. “We are establishing ‘UA&P in Mindanao’ in order to emphasize that the same quality of professional and executive teaching, research,  and people development efforts that have shaped our image and the people who have gotten in contact with us in the last 50 years will be transmitted to the people here in Davao, in Mindanao, and in the Visayas. And soon, in Southeast Asia – the scope of our target market.”

Present also in the signing ceremony were Mr. Lafayette A. Lim and Ms. Ivy Michelle A. Lim from NCCC, UA&P Vice President for Business Development Mr. Daniel Rodrigo Reyes, UA&P Vice President for Faculty Affairs and Research Dr. Marya Svetlana Camacho, UA&P Corporate Secretary Mr. Anthony David, UA&P Center for Food and Agribusiness Executive Director Dr. Rolando Dy, and UA&P Dragons Alumni Association, Inc. President Mr. Brillo Reynes.

The donated land will be allocated for the expansion of UA&P in Mindanao, which will offer professional and executive education in law, business economics, teacher education, management, information technology, and political economy.

“…A strong Mindanao needs as many globally competitive and world-class business revolutionaries who are as equally driven by heart, mindfulness, and spirituality,” Ms. Lim remarked. “I can’t wait for this to start.”
